DRAWINGS by David Evans Everywhere he went, David took a notebook and drawing tools so he could sketch.He often took a small box of watercolours or acrylic paints too. His notebooks became diaries when he went overseas, with tiny, neat writing recounting his day's activities, and colourful little paintings recording everything from farm implements to chickens scratching. Often he wrote a poem as well. These diaries are truly treasures.
These two sketches, Tea Tree Creek and Boorolong, were made of places within a few kilometres of the Evans' home.
These drawings come from a diary. Jakarta Boy, on the left, and on the right in Sydney, The String Lady, her belongings around her and tied up in bags as she settles for a rest. Sydney. He was particularly interested in architecture, and in people he saw in the streets.
